Our September 12 cleanup event is on! We’ll start with a 9AM socially-distant meeting at the Pavillion adjacent to the Lions Ponds next to Safeway for instructions and guidance. Our target area this year will be the Fraser River between County Road 8 and Rendezvous. Plan on bringing gloves and (if you’ve got them) waders.

We’ll provide a pizza lunch after the clean up is finished. Masks will be required for orientation but from the pavilion we will break up into small groups and use social distancing.

We’ve cleaned this area before and removed the Model A car frames, refrigerators, stoves, tires and other major items. This year we’ll probably find mostly plastic bags, coffee cups, fishing line, cigarette butts and beer cans.

We plan to do a careful survey of the distribution of Bud Light vs. Coors cans along this well-used two mile stretch of river and discuss the litter patterns of Bud vs. Coors drinkers.

We’ll meet at 9AM and will be done in time for TU to provide a pizza lunch.
