Money to Remove Grass

40% of Colorado’s municipal and industrial water use goes to outdoor irrigation. That’s just one part of the big picture of why our rivers are drying up resulting in unprecedented impact on fish, wildlife, threats to municipal water supplies and the never before seen low water levels in Lakes Powell and Mead.

80% of the Colorado’s water is used for crop irrigation so this isn’t the “silver bullet” that will stop the decline of our rivers. Think of it as a piece of “silver buckshot” representing one step that will both save water and help raise awareness of the water lost on turf irrigation.
